What Is the Disabled Facilities Grant?

The Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) is a government-funded grant administered by local councils in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. It provides funding to adapt homes for people with disabilities — and stairlifts are one of the most commonly funded adaptations.

How Much Can I Get?

In England, the DFG can provide up to £30,000. In Wales, the maximum is £36,000. In Northern Ireland, up to £25,000 is available. Scotland uses a separate scheme — contact your local council for current figures.

Who Is Eligible?

The DFG is available to homeowners and tenants (including housing association and private renters) who have a disability or long-term condition that affects their mobility.
