Common Access BDD Stairlift Problems
Most faults follow recognisable patterns. Here's what our engineers commonly find — and fix — on the first visit.
Stairlift won't move
Usually a power supply issue, a triggered safety sensor, or a motor drive unit problem — we diagnose the root cause on the first visit.
Power supply and charging faults
Won't charge or cuts out unexpectedly — could be the charging circuit, batteries, or mains supply. We test the full charging system.
Motor or drive faults
Sluggish movement, incomplete journeys, or stopping mid-run — worn drive components are a common cause on older Access BDD models.
Error or diagnostic codes
Access BDD units display diagnostic indicators. We read and understand the codes and resolve the underlying issue — not just reset the fault.
Track obstruction sensor triggered
Safety sensors stop movement when triggered. We check for the obstruction, clear the fault, and test a full run before we leave.
Seat belt warning light
A faulty or stuck seat belt safety switch can prevent operation entirely. We test and replace the switch or sensor as needed.
Remote control faults
Unresponsive or intermittent remotes — new batteries, re-pairing to the receiver, or a receiver replacement if required.
